GRAMMY NOMINEE JANE MONHEIT TO PERFORM

AT 5TH ANNUAL SHAMROCK'S CELEBRATION 



(Syracuse, NY) - Acclaimed Grammy-nominated vocalist Jane Monheit will be the featured performer at the 5th annual Shamrock's Celebration to benefit the Shamrock Animal Fund.   The event hosted by Shamrock Animal Fund founders Matt Mulcahy and Jamie Pomilio-Mulcahy will be held on Saturday evening March 22nd at King&King Architects on the edge of Armory Square in Syracuse. 


Monheit will come to Syracuse directly from a tour of Brazil where she is performing material from her ninth album "The Heart of the Matter".  The album includes arrangements of compositions by Lennon/McCartney, Randy Newman and the Brazilian composer Ivan Lins who performed at the Syracuse Jazz Fest a few summers ago.  


Jane comes to Syracuse with her husband and drummer Rick Montalbano.  Rick grew up in Central New York, the son of well known pianist Rick Montalbano Sr. of Rome, New York.  Monheit met her husband while both attended the Manhattan School of Music.  Joining Monheit and Montalbano will be Andrew Carroll on keyboards, Jared Mulcahy on bass and John Rohde on saxophone.


Monheit and Montalbano are long time animal lovers.  She has previously performed at benefits for the ASPCA, the Elephant Society and Best Friends Animal Society.
