About the Fund

Our dog Shamrock passed away on January 9, 2010. Shamrock had the luck of the Irish. He lived a wonderful life and would have celebrated his 19th birthday on March 17th, St. Patrick's Day.
Sadly, many animals in our community don't share Shamrock's long and healthy life due to their owners inability to afford sometimes costly veterinary care.
Shamrock inspired us to start the Shamrock Animal Fund, a 501c3 not for profit fund that helps pay for veterinary care for animals with certain medical needs who have owners that reside in Syracuse/Central New York.
Requirements:
The animal owner has to assume majority financial responsibility toward the vet bill.
The animal owner has to demonstrate financial need & verify income with appropriate documentation. All information remains confidential.
The animal owner has to apply or co-apply for Care Credit www.carecredit.com 1-800-365-8295 if accepted by the participating veterinarian & provide documentation if denied by Care Credit.
The participating veterinarian has to offer the animal owner a discount toward the veterinary care and/or financial accommodation such as check hold, checking account debit or in-house payment plan.
The Shamrock Animal Fund pays a determined supplement directly to the participating veterinarian.
More About Fund:
Since its inception in January of 2010 The Shamrock Animal Fund has helped pay for the care of many dogs and cats in the greater Central New York area. The fund has worked with more than a dozen local veterinary clinics and hospitals. In addition to paying for the care of animals the Shamrock Animal Fund has been a resource for distressed animal owners in need of advice and advocacy. The animal owners are referred to the fund by veterinarians, animal shelters or through self referral through e-mail or phone.
The Shamrock Animal Fund has been supported by donations from donors primarily from a ten county region in Central New York, but also from several other states outside of New York.
The Shamrock Animal Fund is a Federally recognized 501c3 tax exempt organization. It is also a registered Not-for-profit corporation in New York State.
