The words of thanks and appreciation from pet owners went a long way as payment this afternoon to the volunteers who helped with the first of its kind Healthy Pet Clinic in Syracuse. More than sixty cats and dogs received veterinary exams, vaccinations and assorted other treatments on Sunday, September 11th. The first pet owners lined up an hour before the doors were set to open. They continued a steady flow over the three scheduled hours of the clinic at St.Lucy's Church gymansium.

Volunteer Effort
More than 30 volunteers welcomed the pet owners, filled out paperwork and escorted each animal from station to station. Volunteer veterinarians from the Syracuse area and Cornell University's Hospital for Animals cared for cats and dogs. The pets ranged from pit bulls and boxers to Chihuahuas and kittens.
Next Clinic
The second of three clinics will be held at St. Lucy's Church at 425 Gifford Street from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 9th. Some pet owners will be returning for booster vaccinations.
Requirements for the clinics: pet owners must live on Syracuse's near or south west sides. They must bring identification and documentation of financial need. There is a $10 donation requested for each pet that comes to the clinic.
The third clinic is set for the same location and time on Sunday, November 13th.
